Noise & Quality of Life
Living in a multi-unit dwelling in the city can provide challenges with noise. Noise can disturb those above / below (vertically) and those beside us (horizontally). This includes but is not limited to hallways, lobbies, the garage, fitness center, rooftop deck and your apartment. In order for all of use to have a normal quality of life, please observe the following:
Quiet hours – the building does not have a quiet hours policy as unreasonable loud behavior is disturbing no matter the time of day. Several residents work non-traditional hours overnight. Many work from home during business hours. What is not disturbing to one is disturbing to another.
When there is a disturbance to a resident, they should attempt to go to the loud party and ask them to reduce the noise. Document the date and time. If the noise continues, submit a request to the Property Manager via the Dashboard. The offending resident can be warned or fined as per the Fine Schedule.
Noise from pets in your unit is a noise violation when reported by a homeowner.
Televisions and Music
Avoid hanging televisions on shared walls. Sounds transmits easily through walls.
Keep television/music volume at lower levels or Use headphones when possible.
Speakers in multiple rooms allow music throughout the space, but at a lower volume level.
General
Keep voices low in areas to include but not limited to: hallways, the garage, deck, lobby, fitness center, lobby and your home.
When replacing carpet in units, it must be replaced with carpet or with board approval a flooring with low floor sound transmission coefficient (STC). Submit an ACC request for flooring replacement when it is not carpet. The ACC request can be found on the Property Management Company’s website. Certain units with no occupants below their unit may be exempt from this policy.
Remove hard soled shoes and high heels when walking inside.
Please note, residents are responsible for their guests’ behavior while on the property.
The following are helpful hints to keep the peace between all neighbors:
Guests in the building
When entertaining, let your neighbors know the date and time you will be having a larger gathering.
As a good faith effort, perhaps buy them a bottle of wine or invite them.
Have your gathering on the rooftop deck (see Rooftop Deck section for rental).
